Ludic & Phatic

Assalamualaikum, Ludic & Phatic. What is it? What is in your mind once reading it? Or perhaps you already knew about it unlike me. Someone was discussing about the term ludic and phatic. I suddenly felt so small. I suddenly feels that how little knowledge that I have in this academic world. I realized the importance to be up-to-date with the current trends. But there are too many, too many to catch-up with. Articles downloaded were carried here and there, but the page number remain at 1. To move to another page might take ages. Too many tasks at the office, when at home, too many house chores to be completed. Once everything done, its time to call-off for the day. From the Wikipedia (my instant source of information for general definition) I gathered that LUDIC is the term used to define the playful interface. It was coined in 2008. The term was introduced with the aim of counterbalancing the tendency of "infantilization" of play and stressing the complicities betwe

Do Not Fear, SPM is Near

Image from Google search Assalamualaikum all, Days counted is FIVE. Yes, SPM is only 5 days away. It is just round the corner. Probably we can hear the heart beating very fast in each and everyone who are involved. Who are they that are involve? Students and parents. And teachers, perhaps. I receive a text message from Atikah last night, requesting me to give her a call. And I did. She wanted to tell me that she will not be coming back this weekend (earlier were told that it was compulsory to come back). The hardworking and dedicated teachers are conducting extra classes for the students. It's OK dear it is for the best of the students. This final moments are the most crucial moments. Its not about last minute preparation. It is about last minutes strategies. No last minutes preparation will lead to ultimate success. After a long chat, Atikah suddenly whispered to me, " Ibu, Atikah takut. Atikah tak jumpa dah ibu sebelum exam, doakan Atikah ". Do not worry my d

Qurban 1433

Allahu Akbar  Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar La Ilaha illAllaa Wallahu Akbar Allahu Akbar walillahil hamd Assalamualaikum all, How was your Eid? I spent mine in Shah Alam. We did not went back to our hometown. Duty calls for my husband. Eid Adha is about sacrifices. Sacrifices can be in many faces. And this year we sacrificed our desire to go back home to fulfill the neighbourhood responsibility. The place we live, stay and work. Even RasulAllah SAW wanted us to be nice to our neighbours, how can we be nice if we do not know them? How can we know them if we do not join any programmes that will inculcate the love between neighbours? Therefore, here we are. In Shah Alam for the eid. Many showed surprise faces to see us around, but, we have been around for Eidul Adha for many years already. Mr Hubby in action with our sacrifice As usual the Surau will organized the sacrifice event. It is an event that really showed how difficult task can be done in a bliss with a team

Suasana pendaftaran (awal September 2012) Salam all, Now is 30 minutes past midnight. Calendar date is 25th October 2012 and 9 Zulhijjah 1433. The university is again deserted. Many of the students has gone home. Went home for the Eid Adha and also the semester break. Yes, it is already the semester break. It was like yesterday was the registration day and suddenly today is already the mid term. Time really flies. In-Between settling the time table, solving students problem, filling in grants application form, writing proposal and article, preparing for class and others, i did not realize that half semester is already gone. With that, age increases by day. And we are closer to THE DAY. In between our busy schedule how much tine do we spent for ibadah? Which is given higher priority?

Bapak - Again.

CAUTION : This is an outdated entry. I found it in my draft box. A recollection of memories with Bapak. Alfatihah untuk Bapak. Dear blog, I was on Emergency Leave yesterday (Monday). My father was attacked again on Saturday - heart attack. It is during our way back to kampung, in my car. The driving felt too slow. I wish we could fly the vehicle to the hospital. Anyway, Alhamdulillah, we are there - and not too late. Abang is already waiting for us at the emergency bay of the Seberang Jaya Hospital. The minute our car stopped, a hospital dresser wheeled a wheel chair to carry bapak to the emergency admission area. We relate what had happened during the journey - nothing happen, just informed him that bapak has taken 4 times the medicine prescribed to him to stop the pain on the chest but to no avail. As he wheeled bapak, I followed Abang. The emergency area was not that big, that only one person is allowed to go in to follow bapak, therefore I waited outside. The situation

Reminder --- Indeed

Assalamualaikum dear readers, Today is 2nd Zulhijjah 1433. Yesterday, came in the mailbox a reminder to us, the fellow muslims about a sunnah that the Prophet suggested to whom are planning to perform sacrifice (qurban) for this coming eid adha. It came in twice from two different colleagues. Thank you. Following this email was another email asking for the authenticity of the hadith. It was a slapped on my face. I have long practiced the sunnah (Alhamdulillah) but never occured to me to know or remember the  *sanad for this hadith which I can readily defend. What a shame!!! I know it is of hadith sahih but I do not know who narrated it, and mentioned by whom. It shows how little knowledge that I have in Islamic knowledge. A PhD by qualification, but what do I have to answer in front the Rabb, Allah SWT? * Sanad is the long list of people who passed down the hadith. It should begin with the person that listened to these words from the Prophet, Rasullah SAW himself and pass

Dua' : Surah al-'Imran

Google searched image Assalamualaikum dear readers, I am sharing with you today, dua' found in surah Al-Imran. Ayat 147 وَمَا كَانَ قَوۡلَهُمۡ إِلَّآ أَن قَالُواْ رَبَّنَا ٱغۡفِرۡ لَنَا ذُنُوبَنَا وَإِسۡرَافَنَا فِىٓ أَمۡرِنَا وَثَبِّتۡ أَقۡدَامَنَا وَٱنصُرۡنَا عَلَى ٱلۡقَوۡمِ ٱلۡڪَـٰفِرِينَ (١٤٧) Their cry was only that they said: Our Lord! forgive us for our sins and wasted efforts, make our foothold sure, and give us victory over the disbelieving folk.

A visit to Dungun

Assalamualaikum dear readers, Obligation. Everybody has their obligation to fulfill. To Allah SWT, to the prophet and to mankind. Even to the other living things, there are obligations to fulfill. To animal - do not harm them, feed them if need to. To the plants is to water them and not to destroy them unnecessarily. As one of my obligation to mankind is on my children. And last Sunday we performed a parently task by visiting my eldest who is in Dungun. She claimed that it has been a month since we last met and she misses me a lot, as an act of comfort we went to visit her. We left Shah Alam at about 730am. Stopped by at a restaurant in Bentung and reached Dungun at about 1230pm. She was having a class which suppose to finish at 1230pm but had been extended to 2pm. We waited patiently in the car. I saw a student and requested her to tell my daughter of our arrival. Guess how she responded??? She did not believe it which make her friend dragged her out to see me. She was extremel

Sepsis

Assalamualaikum dear readers, I was browsing through the official email of my workplace (with thousands of members), and suddenly bumped into a mail that announced the demise of a young girl aged 17, a daughter of the Dean for Faculty of Art and Design, UiTM. Innalillahi wainna ilaihi rajiun. The cause of death is declared as SEPSIS. What is sepsis that causes the death of a 17 year old? To kill my curiosity, I quickly seek an answer from Mr Google which provide me with the following information: Sepsis is a condition in which the body is fighting a severe infection that has spread via the bloodstream. If a patient becomes "septic," they will likely have  low blood pressure  leading to poor circulation and lack of perfusion of vital tissues and organs. This condition is termed " shock " and is sometimes referred to as septic shock, when an infection is the cause of shock. This condition can develop either as a result of the body's own defense system or fr

My Herbs Garden

Assalamualaikum all, Great to be writing again, here, today. It is a piece to share my joy and happiness. It brings me to a happiness and piece of mind. Proudly to share with you my HERBS GARDEN. It is only a 7X11 feet by size. But it houses many of my daily needs. Especially when i ran out of vege in stock and too lazy to go to the shop. You can find red chilli (the one captured is green), cili api, mint, basil, daun selom, pucuk beluntas, daun sirih cina (good to lower your BP) and the banana tree (at the moment as a source for the leaves), curry leaves. And currently showering with love is the tumeric and ginger plant. And not to forget the lime tree. The ginger plant is going to grow into large plant so i decided to keep it small by consistently trimming it or removing it if it gets out of control. This is where i will take a seat after weeding.5 minutes every morning before off to work. This where i find happiness to begin a new day with. Enjoy gardening!!!! The Green
