Qurban 2018

Assalamualaikum. It’s Zulhijjah 14. Pilgrims in Makkah had completed their pilgrimage. All are in new hopes and determination. Determined to be a better muslim. Determine to leave behind all the sinful activity. Determine to always be on the righteous path. And determine to perform all that are instructed to us and to deter from doing all that is forbidden. May Allah accept all our duas and good deeds. This morning, during the weekly morning tazkeerah, Ust Firdaus described to us the narration that tells of Prophet Ibrahim and his son, Prophet Ismail. I am sure we had endlessly listened to it and we clearly understood that the story is a clear proof of the importance of doing qurban. However, today, Ustaz pointed to us the sirah from two points of view: 1. From Ismail’s view point 2. From Ibrahim’s view point From the first view point: Being pious and accepted Allah’s message as something that he must obey. Whenever his father (Prohet Ibrahim AS) told Ismail about his

Going into a battle

Salam, "Life is like that"... this is a quote that I borrowed from a section in the Readers Digest. Well ... academician do not only teach, we do research and we also prepare the sound curriculum for the students of the program. After about 2 years of working and sleeping on it, after many no leave days for workshops, we finally reached the climax. It is to present the curriculum that we have designed to the University Curriculum Committee. About a week after the exam processes were completed, we were called to defend the curriculum. The preparations were intense. Four programs from the faculty will go into defense. Few days before the meeting, we were all very busy. Slides preparation, correction, changes, editing. It calls for working on the weekends amidst of wedding invitations, family gatherings. Alhamdulillah with a good team work, we managed to fulfill all the requirements. 12 February 2018 Chill before going into the battle field  Its the day. We were sc

Hijrah

Salam all, The Prophet Muhammad SAW and his companions moved from Mecca to Madinah, move for a better living. That is the kind of hijrah that Allah SWT wants from us. And Hakim made a small hijrah to another school. Even though leaving the previous school is hard to come by when he was happily there, but this precious hijrah is for the sake of ummah. He is now in Pondok Modern Al-''Abaqirah (PMA), a school designed to accommmodate 4 streams of learning: (i) KBSM; (ii) Thurath (Arabic) (iii) Thurath (Jawi); and (iv) Quran. Currently the school resides at Darul Kifayah a complex built by Majlis Agama Islam Wilayah Persekutuan (MAWIP) for the orphans. However, we were informed, it will soon moved to its official location in Putrajaya. The curriculum is what enticed me. It prepares the student for both worlds: the world that we are currently living in and the eternal world. As a muslim, to seek knowledge is a compulsory. Learning the Quran, the teachings, the legislation i

Farewells .... MTAF

Salam all, Good byes is the hardest thing to do. 18 January 2018, Hakim is bidding farewell to his friends after their 3 long years being together. They spent time together more than they spent time with their family. They are at the hostel most the days in the year ... all are only for one reason, to get the knowledge of Al-Quran. Alhamdulillah. And today, he is leaving his friend, life requires 'hijrah', moving from one place to another, to find something in preparing to be a better muslim.  His three years in Maahad Tahfiz Al Furqan (MTAF) was well spent. He learnt a lot from the school. In other words, the school taught him a lot. From a timid and shy lad to a more confident teenager. Hakim is not leaving MTAF because it is not good. Hakim is leaving MTAF because we hope for him to learn something more. In MTAF he was taught to be confident. In his first year he was already exposed to national level competition in musabaqah. Even though he did not win any, but
