Working while listening to video clips from the Youtube is part of my routine. I like to listen to tazkeerah/ reminders. Or at times, I do listen to Quran recitation or music. And today I come across this short video clip of a talk show where a muslim is having a conversation to a reverted Muslim (at that time was a 'to be' reverted).
This was the short conversation that caught me:
Q: Brother, do you believe that Quran is the book of God? the book of Allah?
A: I got the Quran from the library. I read from cover to cover and this is what convince me that this is the true religion.
And the brother, named Chris finally says Syahadah, Alhamdulillah. May Allah bless him with iman and taqwa.
What's interesting is how a non-Muslim able to read the Quran cover-to-cover? What about us muslims? Do we read cover to cover? Some might retaliate, YES! I do read cover-to-cover, at least once a year during Ramdhan. But bear in mind, read and recite have two different meanings. When you read, you understand it. When you recite, you are just doing the parrot reading. Which do you usually do??? Undoubtful why most of the muslim reverts when they reverted to muslim they are the better Muslim than we are. Because? Just because they put the whole of them into understanding the Quran because it is the words of Allah. Allah talks to us through Quran. But we chose to ignore. Na'uzubillah....
O Allah forgive me. Most of the time I read the Quran but I ignore the meaning of each words that I recite. What more to understand and appreciate it. I read it merely to fulfill my muslimly task. But I chose to ignore on being the mukminin and muttaqin, to truly understand the meaning of the Quran.
I am now started into an intense study of the Quran. Wishing to get into a formal class ... I pledge to myself, before the eyes are closed forever, I will try to know and uphold the contetn of the Quran.
Allahu Akbar! Forgive me ya Allah. Ameen.
