 Assalamualaikum all 2024 is here. To me, it’s just another day. Every day is a new chapter in life. Yesterday, I received a message from my PhD student, a Chinese citizen, travelled all the way, millions kilometers away, leaving the husband and child, to pursue her study. She wanted to see me as she is going back to China next week. I agreed to see her, it’s part of my responsibility as a supervisor, never to turn down the student's request as much as possible. Even though I only have two months before retiring, she is still my responsibility. So, she came. I thought she came to discuss her proposal with me. But she came just to say goodbye. She was afraid that we might not see each other again as she is going back for a longer period this time. She will only be back to Malaysia after April. And that will be after my retirement. It is so thoughtful of her. What touched me is, she cried as we were departing. She kept on thanking me for the little guidance that I have given her. Dif
