FB, Blog dan Riak

Salam semua,

Tajuk di atas adalah dirujuk.

Astaghfirullahal adzhim.

Semoga Allah memelihara kita.

Wallahua'lam.

AlFatihah - The surah

Salam all,

Today, let's us begin our quest to achieve perfection in solat. We will begin with the most important verse in a solah, that is al-Fatihah, the Opening. We recite it 17 times daily. How much do you understand about the surah?

Look at the verses carefully. This surah is full of dua's. Try to memorize it. Verse by verse. If unable to, try to understand the gist of it. And when you recite the surah in your solat, try to imagine as though you are 'talking' to the Creator. We begin the surah with all the praises to Him alone. Admitting that He is the greatest, and believing in the the DAy. Next, we beg Him and wish for Him to guide us to the righteous path. Just as those whom Allah has bestowed rahmah and to protect us from being grouped with those who were astray.

Wallahua'lam.

It's Al-Fatihah Again

Salam all,

Twice today we received the emails bearing the title 'Al-Fatihah', it came from two different persons as a condolences for two members of the faculty for the demise of their beloved family members. Looking back at the emails listing, there were more than 5 emails of such title of late. Al-Fatihah, may each soul will be placed amongst the solihin.

New life was brought to world with smile on the faces of the loved ones. At the same time, new soul was brought back to his Creator without delays as written and promised. As mentioned in the lyric of Ahmed Bukhatir's song, 'Last Breath', everybody cries as the body was laid to the soil not knowing that the soul of the dead cried the most. Especially if we were brought back to the Creator with a flawed records. Listening to the song shivers my body and mind. What is it that I will bring back to see the Creator who has given me so much???? What do I have with me????

One ustaz (Ustaz Zainul Abidin from Klang), once mentioned to us a simple analogy of giving, receiving and paying back what Allah has given us. Allah gives us the oxygen to breath in 24 hours a day, we receive it as we needed it, and what do we give Him back as a token of appreciation, as the act of saying thank you? Is it only the prayer (solat) that won't even last for 10 minutes each?

50 minutes( 5 solat X 10 minutes) VS 24 hours (1440 minutes) of oxygen to breath in
How do you look at this???
Sufficient? Reasonable?

As our age increased in numbers, most of the time, so does our wealth, what do we do to say thanks to Allah. Do we upgrade the way we say thanks to Allah just as Allah has upgraded our life? Or is it remains as before if not worse? Is it fair for us to be doing that for the Creator who has Generously given us with prosper in life be it in terms of wealth, happiness, blessed with beautiful marriage and kids who succeeded in all their undertakings? Don't we ever feel ashamed? Receiving, receiving, receiving and keeps on receiving with very minimal of giving??

How well do we perform our prayers? do we upgrade it? Do we try hard to be khusyu' in solat? Or perhaps our solat is as good as we are in Standard One if not worse? Thinking about this, is an endless thought .... ACTION is a must. Therefore, let's upgrade the way we say thanks to Allah as much as Allah has upgraded our wealth and life by doing a very simple task - perform a correct solat with khusyu'. Lets begin with a first step by memorizing all the verses and dua's that we recite during solat. By doing that, insyaAllah we will feel as though we are talking to Allah, thanking the Creator personally, humbly and felt very close to Him.

Saying is always easier than Doing. This is true.

However, I am calling upon myself (especially) and everybody else, let's try doing it, let's try improving our solat, if we failed, do not despair, try again, as Ar-Rahman and Ar-Rahim rewards the simplest effort of good deeds.

wallahua'lam

Kawan Oh! Kawan

Salam all,

Can you see the photo below? Can you read it? So sorry if you cant. I do not know how to make it bigger. It's a screen capture of a conversation on the FB (I'm sure that is obvious).

It was a conversation between 4 friends who are currently thousand miles apart. Friends liLah are meant to be forever. Friends are whom you share your feelings with. Your happiness, your sorrow. Friends will always lend their ears and shoulders for you to shed their tears. Friends would be those that would jump to joy for your happiness and success. Friends should be those who never tires of giving. Friends are those who will always be there for you. Most importantly, friends should be the one who are able to bring you
closer to your Rabb, Allah swt.

We have not been 'talking' to each other for months. When suddenly everybody appears on this cyberspace, the friendship becomes so lively. Old times are always the beautiful memories. Good friends never retain the stain in friendship. As quoted from one of the postings, "Seorang di Selatan tanah air, seorang di wilayah tengah tanah air, seorang hampir Gurun Sahara dan seorang di Teluk Persia, entah bila dapat bertemu kembali". It was truly a feeling deep in heart for tomorrow is never a guarantee for the sun to shine on our face again. Accept the fact that today is not yesterday, and yesterday may never repeats.

May our friendship last forever and ever liLah. Amin.

A tug-of-war between two departments

Salam all,

Few ridicules the research done on educational technology from a computing department. They claim that education is the job of educational department. True enough, people from the education department is also looking at the use of technology in education. Whose job is it to dwell into technology and education actually? Why must labeling others with 'none computing', 'a waste of computational knowledge' and alike? What good will it brings to you?

Research is an endeavour to seek a betterment in life no matter in what area you are working in. It may call for a marriage among few different fields. An educationist may be excellent at learning theory but lacking in the algorithm, systems architecture, interaction technology etc. A computer scientist is good at programming and coding but are at lost when talking about behaviorisme, cognitivisme and constructivisme or pedagogy? What is a game without a programming and graphics? What is an educational game without programming, graphics and education? A little bit of this and that makes our life perfect. A little bit of this and that cooked a delicious meal. The same goes with research. A little bit of this and that field boiled an interesting and beneficial outcome to mankind. Be it big, be it small, each new findings are the contribution to the body of knowledge. No research is difficult, no research is very easy. Everything comes with its own price tag depending on the domain, breath and depth.

If the lines between departments are so thick and allows no penetration, water will remain water, no coffee will come out of it. If we confined to only doing research within our own area without a peep into other field, no benefit will come out of the research as it will be tasteless and self enjoyed by their own clan. What is a highly sophisticated technology if it is not designed to be used in other field? A good sytems architecture, a fine algorithm has to be put to use by human. And human are everywhere in the vast areas of field, what's wrong with designing solution for a betterment in education when education is the key success factor in one life?

Criticism is good but is not always the best.

wallahua'lam

-just my 2cents thought-

p/s. This posting might sound different, but it is part of my journey. For, whatever we do, we do it for Allah. With sincerity, rewards await, insyaAllah.

Istimewa buat Hamba yang Bertaqwa

Salam all,

As usual early morning is the busiest moment before leaving to office. And normally, at this time I will turn on the TV so that I could listen to the programme 'Tanyalah Ustaz" and "Adik dan Al-Quran". Even though the programme "Adik dan Al-Quran was meant for kids, but it also beneficial for us adult. The presentation is so simple and the brief airing time (less than 30 minutes) really able to trigger my short term memory (which make me want to listen to it) which later pass the info to the long term memory. And now, it all depends on me how I want to execute the knowledge.

It was the reciting of Surah Al-i-Imran (15-17):

Maksudnya:

The verse laid a promise by Allah for His servant that are muttaqin (those who are truly devoted to Allah - bertaqwa). The muttaqin is promised Jannah (heaven) with stream in it and are being accompanied by partners. Who are the muttaqin? The mutaqqin are:
  • those who are patient in performing all the good deeds and ibadah,
  • those who are honest (doing things only because of Allah),
  • those who obeyed all His instruction,
  • those who spent their money for the benefit of Islam and
  • those who consistently seek forgiveness from Allah before dawn.
Do we fit to be in the category? Do we fit to be called muttaqin? A beautiful analogy made by Ustaz Zamri (the host), let's perform a simple activity:

!---------------------------------------X---------------------------------------!
The Hell......... We are here............... The Jannah

In between the two ends, if we perform any one of the following task, allow yourself to move to the right, and if you do not perform the task, move yourself to the left.
a. solat right after the azan (& in jamaah for muslimin)
b. read quran
c. sadaqah
d. tahajjud
e. fast
Now that you have moved yourself, where are you? Which end are you closer to? Is it the 'H' or the "J".
Let's muhasabah!

Last Breath - Ahmed Bukhatir (With Lyrics)

The lyric will touch your heart, and for us to be prepared for the Day to come as we do not know WHEN it will be ....

The Last Breath = the lyrics
From those around
I hear a Cry,
Oh God! Oh God!
My eyes are blind

From those around I hear a Cry,
A muffled sob, a Hopeless sigh,
I hear their footsteps leaving slow,
And then I know my soul must Fly!

A chilly wind begins to blow,
Within my soul, from Head to Toe,
And then, Last Breath escapes my lips,
It's Time to leave. And I must Go!

So, it is True (But it's too Late)
They said: Each soul has its Given Date,
When it must leave its body's core,
And meet with its Eternal Fate.

Oh mark the words that I do say,
Who knows? Tomorrow could be your Day,
At last, it comes to Heaven or Hell
Decide which now, Do NOT delay!
Come on my brothers let us pray
Decide which now, Do NOT delay!

Oh God! Oh God! I cannot see!
My eyes are Blind! Am I still Me
Or has my soul been led astray,
And forced to pay a Priceless Fee

Alas to Dust we all return,
Some shall rejoice, while others burn,
If only I knew that before
The line grew short, and came my Turn!

And now, as beneath the sod
They lay me (with my record flawed),
They cry, not knowing I cry worse,
For, they go home, I face my God!

Oh mark the words that I do say,
Who knows, Tomorrow could be your Day,
At last, it comes to Heaven or Hell
Decide which now, Do NOT delay !
Come on my brothers let us pray
Decide which now, do not delay ....
Come on my brothers let us pray
Decide which now, do not delay

Pemergian itu dirasai anak-anakku

Salam semua,

This morning, I hurried to my children's school. The date today is 13th January, 16th will be the starting of the food service program. I have to make the payment before my kids begin enjoying the food. Reaching the school, I saw the pupils in the prayer hall (surau), I thought they were almost finish performing their dhuha prayer. I hurriedly walk towards the canteen, as I pass by the surau I can clearly see that they were reciting surah Yassin not performing the solat. I completed my transaction at the canteen and hurried back to my car.

In the afternoon, I met Anum, just returning from fetching her children from school (the same school) my kids went to). She signalled me to come closer to her car. As I reached near her car, she told me that one of the kids teacher passed away this morning. Now, it answers why the children were reciting Yassin this morning. It seems that the teacher teaches both my children. She taught them Akhlak.

Reaching home, the kids blurted out to me the news sadly. Both of them were very sad with the lost. The teacher was on Medical Leave yesterday, and passed away peacefully this morning at 2am for a viral infection in the lung. When I asked Sabrina when was the last time she saw the teacher, she told me that the teacher were in her class earlier this week looks healthy as usual. It's a sudden demise. A dedicated teacher, she was an active person (I knew this when I dropped by at her facebook to take a glimpse of her).

May Allah place Cikgu Amanatun Zakiah among mukminah solehah, reward her for all her good deeds and forgive all her wrongdoings. Al-Fatihah!

Back To School 2012

Salam all,

Yes, it's back to school for the year 2012. Today, 4th January 2012, its officially the ending of the PSP, PS2, TV wacthing, facebooking, computer game playing season for my kids. With the ending of those seasons, I hope to see some declining in the electricity bills which rose to RM500++ during the school holidays.

Back to school also means its muscle building for ibu again as there's plenty of scrubbing to be done on the school uniform. On top of that, ibu got to start being creative again to think of what to prepare for the kids meal box to bring to school. This also means that extra attention need to be put on the kids study.

With the unofficial domestic helper back to the hostel, it's left only ibu to do all the house chores. Thanks dear Kakak for being a great helper, even though sometimes there's aome scolding and blabbering that you had to bear with. Everything is for your own good ... to educate.

Kakak,
As this is your final schooling year, Ibu really hope that you will put your 200% effort for this important exam at year end. Ibu will always pray for your success. But, changes has to come from you. Best of luck my dear.

To Sabrina and Hakim,
Proof to ibu, that from this year onward, both of you will be the top in everything that you do such as study, quran, hafazan etc... My prayers are for the two of you too.

2011 has ended, come 2012. How time flies. ALHAMDULILLAH ALLAH, we are still here, breathing healthily, and be given the chance to sow for the garden in the hereafter, the jannah, for everything that we do, we do it just for YOU, ALLAH.

Ameen.
