Assalamualaikum.
It’s Zulhijjah 14. Pilgrims in Makkah had completed their pilgrimage. All are in new hopes and determination. Determined to be a better muslim. Determine to leave behind all the sinful activity. Determine to always be on the righteous path. And determine to perform all that are instructed to
us and to deter from doing all that is forbidden. May Allah accept all our duas and good deeds.
This morning, during the weekly morning tazkeerah, Ust Firdaus described to us the narration that tells of Prophet Ibrahim and his son, Prophet Ismail. I am sure we had endlessly listened to it and we clearly understood that the story is a clear proof of the importance of doing qurban.
However, today, Ustaz pointed to us the sirah from two points of view:
1. From Ismail’s view point
2. From Ibrahim’s view point
From the first view point:
Being pious and accepted Allah’s message as something that he must obey.
Whenever his father (Prohet Ibrahim AS) told Ismail about his dream*, Ismail asked, 'Does this come from ALLAH SWT?'. And Ibrahim answered, 'Yes'. Upon which Ismail quickly obliged to it and convincing his father to perform as were told in the dream.
*Dream - please take note that Prophet's dream are considered as a message from Allah. Us all as the follower cannot believes in dreams and deemed it as a message that need to be obeyed or complied.
From Ibrahim’s point of view:
Talking to tenagers requires hikmah, nice words, kindness and sincerity.
Prophet Ibrahim, as we know, had earlier left his son, Ismail, and the mother, Siti Hajar in a barren land. Hajar later run back and forth in between two hills, the Safa and Marwah hill, in her quest to find some drinking water for Ibrahim who was then was just a baby. That is when Allah SWT grant her wish and produce them with holy water from the ground and is know as Zam-Zam.
Prophet Ibrahim only visited his child when he had grown bigger. Being apart for most of the time, Ibrahim used the kind and loving words with Ismail in delivering the message that he received from Allah SWT through his dream.
Upon the agreement of both father and son, Ismail readily devote himself to be sacrifice and lay down ready for the father to perform as being told. When Ibrahim was about to perform the qurban, Allah SWT has miraculously replaced Ismail with a large kibash and Ismail was spared.
Lesson learnt:
Subhanallah. It was an amazing story that is being told. I even opened my view to the ways I communicated and interacted with my children. The key to this communication tips are: use the kind words and rationalize to them or make them understanding why certain things need to be done.
Wallahu a'lam

Lesson learnt:
- To be a pious and obedient servant of Allah, we must readily accept what has been instructed upon us even though thats the most toughest, saddest thing to do.
- We must believe that in return to the good deeds that we have done, Allah will surely reward us. The reward may come instantly or given at a better time only known to Allah SWT.
- When interacting with teenagers, we must discuss rationally, treat them as adult that can understand situation. Also used the kind words and not merely instructing them to perfom just anything. They must be let to understand the reason for doing what they are asked to and also must given the chance to ask questions for clarity if need to.
